Do You Wear Makeup at the Gym? Why It is Time to Stop?

Do you wear makeup at the gym? If you do, should you stop? What is the rule about wearing makeup in the gym? Is it allowed or not? Now, that’s sure a lot of questions. The answer to all of these questions is a staunch and adamant “NO!”

So, where did this trend of wearing makeup at gym come from then? You can thank the host of fitness YouTubers, sporting a full face of makeup, at the gym.

Here’s Why You Should Avoid Wearing Makeup at the Gym

You shouldn’t wear makeup at the gym because when makeup mixes in with your sweat, it clogs up your pores and leads to breakouts. You would do your skin a lot more good if you go bare faced to the gym. Exercising increases blood circulation and this leads to sweating and increased oil activity.

Even though you will not breakout each time you wear makeup to the gym, but why take that risk in the first place? Just don’t!  If you have acne-prone skin, makeup is not something you want to be wearing when you put yourself through a rigorous workout.

Okay, so I won’t wear foundation, but is eye makeup okay?

Eye makeup like mascara or eyeliner while exercising is okay, but still not recommended even if its waterproof. When you sweat, your eye makeup can run into your eyes and slide down to your delicate undereye skin.

If that happens, your eyes can become dry and irritated. If you must wear mascara, we won’t stop you, but will advise you to go with a waterproof mascara, one that doesn’t sweat off easily during your workout.

With Makeup Off the Table, What Should You Do Instead?

Instead of makeup, you can use skincare products that benefit your skin. You can use a fresh green tea cleansing stick, made up of natural oils, that will remove impurities from your skin while keeping it hydrated. You can use a licorice pH balancing cleanser toner, which cleanses your skin and further removes impurities from it. The combination of licorice water and licorice brightens your skin and reduces pigmentation.

Lastly, use a beauty filter cream glow, containing flower extracts, that soothe and balance the production of sebum while the pearl extracts make your skin glow. This cream will hydrate and even brighten your skin.

Even though this cream does not cover any acne spots, it does even out your skin tone, making it appear smoother. Okay, we lied, there is one last thing you need to do before you head to the gym — apply sunscreen with SPF 50.

We hope the next time you go to the gym, you do not wear makeup, as that is only harming your skin. Be bold, be beautiful and venture into the gym, flaunting your no makeup look with confidence. Believe us, when you’re working out, no one is looking at you, as all are focused on their own workout routine.
