After you take a shower, does your hair scream, “Bad Hair Day!” If it does, you probably dread taking showers, especially when you have to go somewhere. When your hair dries, it looks like a bomb went off in your hair, causing a hair explosion.
To tame your wild hair, you have to sit in front of the mirror with a hair straightener each time you take a shower. It can get annoying, not to mention time consuming. Plus, heat is bad for your hair, especially if you straighten your hair each time after you shower.
What can you do to prevent your hair from becoming unruly after a shower? We want you to follow these tips to use in the shower:
1. Shampoo the Scalp, Roots, and Nape
Are you guilty of shampooing the general length of your hair? If you are, shampoo your scalp, roots, and nape from now on. Those are the places where dirt collects the most. If you have the habit of putting a lot of shampoo on the ends of your hair, stop it! It will cause dryness.
2. Please, No Hot Water
For women who love showering with hot water, this is bad news. If you want to prevent the shine of your hair from disappearing, you need to say no to hot water and hello to cold water. If the thought of cold water makes you shiver, shower with lukewarm water instead.
3. Brush Your Hair Once Its Dry
When you get out of the shower, do not reach for the hairbrush straight away, but allow your hair to get a little dry. By brushing your hair immediately after showering, you cause damage to the roots and ends of your hair. You need to brush outwards, not inwards.
4. Do Not Shampoo Your Hair Regularly
When we over-shampoo our hair, we end up damaging it. Do not squeeze large amounts of shampoo in your hand, as excess shampoo can damage your ends and cause your hair to become dry. Use a small amount of shampoo when you shower. This will also decrease the money you spend on buying shampoos.
5. Say Goodbye to Long Showers
Most women love long showers. If you like long showers, it is time to put a stop to them. Long showers damage your hair, causing your hair to lose essential oils. Your showers should not last more than ten minutes.
If you keep your conditioner in your hair for five minutes, know that it will not make any difference. How long you let the conditioner stay in your hair before you wash it, doesn’t really matter.
Another advice we would like to give is that you stop using a regular conditioner, but use deep conditioning at least once every two weeks. You can apply coconut oil or olive oil to your hair after you shower.
The next time you take a shower, remember these tips! They will keep your hair healthy, strong, and shiny!
