Do you like to swim in the swimming pool? Have you ever thought about exercising in a swimming pool? Most probably, you already know how effective water exercises in the swimming pool are for weight loss. If you know water exercises are effective, why have you never tried any of them?
Is it because you do not know any of them? If this is your excuse for not trying them before, we are going to tell you about the following five water exercises you need to perform in the swimming pool:
1. Walk through Water
Water walking will tone your legs, as it adds resistance. You can walk in the water with your child, if you have one, or borrow a child such as your nephew or niece, or better yet, add two children on each hip.
Mothers of twins, this is the exercise for you! Now, walk from one side of the swimming pool to the other side of the swimming pool. Your child will have a blast without realizing that they are their mommy’s workout tool!
2. Cut Through Water
Cut through water aka scissor kicks in the swimming pool will tone your abs and legs. Place your legs in front of you in the swimming pool, tighten your abs, and perform scissor kicks. If you want, you can move your legs in and out as if you are performing a jumping jack while sitting down. Moving your legs in and out of the water will tone your hips and inner thighs.
3. Plank in the Water
Swimming planks are fun to perform. They will tone your abs, making them rock hard! To perform a plank in the water, you need to lie down on your stomach on the shallow end of the swimming pools, tighten your abs, push down using the palms of your hands, and swim your body out and back. A swimming plank looks similar to a push-up, except more fun!
4. Kick the Water
Hanging kicks is a great alternate to walking in the water. If you are tired of walking, it is time to kick! Perform hanging kicks by facing the side of the swimming pool where you can easily place your elbows on the corner or hold on to something and then kick your legs behind you. This water exercise will tone your butt.
5. Toss the Water
If you have a child, you can use them or an exercise ball designed for water exercises. Yes, your child will again become an exercise tool. Psst…don’ tell them! You need to toss your child or your exercise ball in the air and catch them, or it, as they come down.
Now that you know five water exercises to perform in the swimming pool, you should have no more excuses for not exercising in the water. Exercising in the swimming pool is one of the most exciting and enjoyable ways to get a work out, especially for mothers with small children.
